Are you a Company Manager?

Organizations based upon DiDIY, characterized by a creative and innovative approach, will transform managers’ role both on the hard skills and the soft ones.

Contrary to the traditional idea that technology leads only to automating operative tasks, there is evidence that contribution from individuals will be supported and enhanced by technologies that foster activities from ideation to realization. This condition creates “craftspeople”: people that work by themselves. You can find this "persona" described in a short video on Digital DIY and Entrepreneurship.

In this context with this kind of “new professionals”, company’s objectives are the results of the contribution of each component of the organization, working individually.
Managers roles will be the ones subject to a deeper level of transformation. that is exactly why they will need to own, and develop communication skills, empathy, negotiation skills, tutoring and coaching.
Thorough these competences, reciprocal collaboration, collective creativity development thorough deep technological knowledge will be fostered and supported, enabling changes not only at the invidual level, but also disrupting traditional business models, as well presented by Indy Johar in his keynote speech on Open Business Models at the DiDIY Final Conference in Milan (June 2017).

We have identified some concrete examples of the changes undergoing in organizational roles and business models related to the DiDIY phenonmenon.

Does a "maker" fit in a manufacturing company? If you are interested in understanding which role can a creative worker play in a traditional manufacturing company, then read the conference paper Makers in the Plant?
